Doggie Do’s

Thursday is the day that Ramone will probably dislike me the most. I’m taking him to the vet to begin the last round of shots and updates he needs in order to be allowed into the UK. Nervous day for mama, terrifying day for puppy.

Micro-chipped (as required by the UK). I was going to do this with someone other than the vet at a less expensive cost but if I do it with the vet, he will include this in Ramone’s Certified Medical History (CMH) certificate to satisfy the British customs officers so I’m going to pay the extra $25 and just do it this way. Prevent headaches whenever possible; that’s definitely something I’ve learned during this process.

After he’s micro-chipped (in fact, it specifically has to be after) he’ll be tested for heartworm one last time, receive his booster shots, and also have his rabies vaccination. All of which has to again be specifically laid out in the CMH for British customs. And all of which has to be done on the same day.

That’s a big day for my little peanut.

After that day is over and he’s settled down from all the commotion of people poking, prodding, and alienating his personal space, I’ll have to take him back to the vet no more than 5 days before we depart for his tapeworm shots. My poor Ramonie.

On the bright side? He’ll be able to be with me in England and that’s the goal because this is a ‘no child left behind’ situation; he’s my kid and where I go, he goes. Plain and simple. He’s worked his way into my heart, made a home there, and now I’ll protect him with all my might.

Gah, I’m such a sap.
